What is the difference between aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery?
Aesthetic (or cosmetic) plastic surgery focuses on enhancing a patient’s appearance to improve their confidence and achieve their desired look. These procedures are typically elective and include treatments like breast augmentation, facelifts, rhinoplasty, and body contouring. The goal of aesthetic surgery is to refine or restore natural beauty by specifically addressing features that a patient may wish to improve or rejuvenate.
Reconstructive plastic surgery aims to restore form and function to areas affected by trauma, cancer treatment, or congenital abnormalities. Common procedures include breast reconstruction after mastectomy, scar revision, burn reconstruction, and the correction of birth defects. These surgeries are often essential for improving a patient’s physical and emotional well-being, helping them regain a sense of normalcy.
At Renew Plastic Surgery, we specialize in both aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, providing expert care tailored to each patient’s unique needs and goals. Whether you’re looking to enhance your appearance or recover after life-altering events, our team is here to help you achieve exceptional, life-changing results.
