Dr. Ian Wisecarver, Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Ian Wisecarver brings unparalleled expertise and passion to his role as the lead plastic surgeon at Renew Plastic Surgery, founded in partnership with South Peninsula Hospital. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Wisecarver discovered his calling to medicine after spending six years working in oil fields around Louisiana and Texas. His journey led him to Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where he earned his medical degree and cultivated his passion for reconstructive surgery.
While in medical school, Dr. Wisecarver explored his interest in global healthcare, completing a Head and Neck Surgery rotation at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. It was during this time that he realized his passion for reconstructive surgery—restoring form and function to help patients regain normalcy and confidence.
Dr. Wisecarver further honed his skills during his clinical years, dedicating himself to the study of plastic surgery. He published numerous peer- reviewed book chapters, scientific papers, and presentations, earning recognition for his academic excellence. He was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, reflecting his commitment to obtaining the medical knowledge requisite to delivering compassionate patient care.
Following medical school, Dr. Wisecarver completed a rigorous six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) in Dallas, a program consistently recognized as best-in-nation for plastic surgery training. At UTSW, Dr. Wisecarver received training from world-renowned experts in aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. He gained specialized expertise in body contouring, facial rejuvenation, breast aesthetics, breast cancer reconstruction, and facial skin cancer reconstruction.
During his residency, Dr. Wisecarver made annual trips to Homer, Alaska, where he fell in love with the community and the Alaskan lifestyle. These visits inspired him to establish the first plastic surgery clinic on the Kenai Peninsula, in collaboration with South Peninsula Hospital. Today, as a board-eligible plastic surgeon of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Wisecarver proudly serves patients in Homer and beyond, offering a comprehensive range of services designed to deliver exceptional, natural- looking results.
